Aquarius (Aquarii)
Aquarius, the Water-Bearer, is a large zodiacal constellation depicting a figure pouring water from a jar. It lies in a region of the sky sometimes called 'the Sea' because it's surrounded by other water-related constellations including Pisces (the Fish), Cetus (the Whale), and Capricornus (the Sea-Goat). Aquarius contains several notable planetary nebulae and is the radiant point for two annual meteor showers.
📜 Mythologie
Aquarius is most commonly identified with Ganymede, a beautiful Trojan prince who caught the eye of Zeus. The king of the gods, smitten by the youth's beauty, transformed into an eagle (represented by nearby Aquila) and carried Ganymede to Mount Olympus to serve as cupbearer to the gods. This role was previously held by Hebe, goddess of youth. Ganymede was granted immortality and eternal youth, and his image was placed among the stars.
